Reading: We continue to study different text structures in informational texts. This month, we focused on the story "Picturesque Journey," which introduces the artists Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Paul Gauguin. This text describes how the artists' locations affected their art. We will also study the elements of historical fiction and read the historical fiction story Delivering Justice, set during the early civil rights movement. 

Religion: This month, we will focus on the many blessings we experienced in 2025. We will examine the sacrament of confirmation in greater depth. We look forward to celebrating Catholic Schools’ Week. Our knowledge will be challenged during the Catholic Quiz Bowl. We will learn about different saints by taking a pilgrimage around the school and viewing informative bulletin boards. We will study the life of Saint Patrick and create a timeline. We will create a board game about ways to show Jesus’s love to others, and then play the game with our kindergarten peers.

4th Grade Social Studies: 4th graders continue to study the regions of the United States. This month, we will focus on the Southwest and the Midwest. Students will learn the states and capitals of the regions, as well as the land, resources, and history. Students also do center work to dive deeper into each region. 

5th Grade Social Studies: Students will learn about the settlement of the colonies in North America. We will study the Spanish and English colonies, such as St. Augustine and Jamestown, as well as the French and Dutch colonies. Students then create a character from one of the colonies and write a journal entry about life in the new colony. We will also discuss Martin Luther King Jr.’s Powerful words and the importance of words.
