Reading- In May, we will begin a novel study of  My Side of the Mountain. We will learn new vocabulary, complete comprehension questions, and discuss nature and survival. We will complete a research project on edible plants. In addition, we will create stem creations inspired by My Side of the Mountain. 


Religion- We will learn more about Mary and honor her during the month of May. We will discuss how she was open to God’s call and how she is the most blessed of women. Fifth graders will have an in-house retreat when Fr. David will speak with them. We will have Adoration and create a keepsake.


4th Grade Social Studies - In May, we will talk about the history of the United States and how things have changed, and what has stayed the same. Students will build a mega timeline including many important events in U.S. history.


5th Grade Social Studies - We will learn about the Louisiana Purchase and Westward Expansion. We will discuss important figures such as Thomas Jefferson, Daniel Boone, and Lewis and Clark.  Students will also learn about the War of 1812 and the Trail of Tears.
