1R March Newsletter
Happy March!
Here are some updates for this month:
In Fundations, we will be moving onto Unit 11. In this unit we will be working on vowels. We have already learned short vowel sounds and closed syllable words: a apple /a/, e Ed /e/, i itch /i/, o octopus /o/, and u up /u/. Now we will move on to long vowel sounds and vowel-consonant-e syllable words: a safe /a/, e Pete /e/, i pine /i/, o home /o/, u mule /u/, and u rule /u/. The trick words we will learn are friend, other, another, none, and nothing.
In MyView/Social Studies, we will be continuing to work on Unit 4: Making History. Spelling words for each week are posted on google classroom and emailed. Please make sure your child is practicing their spelling words each night.
In Religion, our virtue of the month is forgiveness.
In Math, we are working on the concept of even and odd. We are also practicing counting not only by 1’s but also 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s in addition to continuing our addition race. Please have your child practice their math facts at home, either on paper or using the IXL and XtraMath apps.
Please practice trick words at home. If possible it would be great to make notecards and practice each night before bed. At home, please read with your child and have them write whenever they can, in addition to using Lexia. Thank you!
