1R June Newsletter
Dear 1R Families,
As we are finishing up our school year, I want to take the time to reflect. First grade has been full of fun, growth, and learning. I have witnessed your children become much more confident in their studies, especially when it comes to reading, writing, spelling, and arithmetic.
At the beginning of the year I started reading the Magic Tree House Series to them. I feel like these books are very age appropriate and the kids have really enjoyed listening to these stories. This book series is very large but we have made it through 20 of them. I know your children would love to keep hearing these stories if you are willing to read these books with them over the summer. They should be available at local libraries.
Another great thing for your children to do over the summer is to continue working on their writing skills. Something we did every Monday was write about our weekend. During the summer, if they have any special events, day trips, or vacations, they can write their experiences afterwards.
Your children grew to love their spelling tests and their math quizzes as well. Some of them even said that those two things were their favorite part of their school day. Can you imagine kids finding tests/quizzes their favorite part of first grade? How amazing is that!
In addition to becoming great students academically, they have also learned the importance of living a faith filled life. I hope that I have reinforced in them good qualities to help them live out that life. Daily we discussed the importance of kindness, respect, and honesty. I can honestly say that my students and your children are wonderful kids that I was beyond blessed to have had in my classroom. I want to thank them and all of you for making my first year at Saint Chris such a positive and wonderful experience. Best of luck in second grade! I know that your kids will all do great!
God Bless,
Mrs. Rodriguez
