The New Year is Upon Us

With the ending of the Christmas Season we may feel that we have come upon a time when Christ is less important. We don't see the Christmas decorations, or light up the Christmas tree. There is no need for more presents and worry about who we didn't send cards to. But we need to remember that Christ came on Christmas Day, He didn't leave us when the season was over.

Each day, one of the great blessings that I as a teacher have and one that each student gets, is a place blessed to talk about Christ, not just in religion class but all through the day. Outside of our class is a Crucifix and every time that we pass it, as individuals or as a class, we make the sign of the cross, reminding us of Christ and his sacrifice but, at the same time, reminding us that He is ever-present.

As we come into the New Year, with all of its busyness and worries, concerns and fears, whether as a parent or as a student, remember that Christ was born and He remains with us always.
