Fall Nurse Notes

Please help us keep our students, staff/faculty, and families healthy by following the guidelines below. Thank you!

Keeping students at home:

  • A child should NOT attend school if he/she is running a fever.  A child should be fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication like Tylenol or Advil for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • A child should NOT attend school if he/she has had nausea or vomiting in the past 24 hours.

  • A child should NOT attend school if he/she has had diarrhea in the past 24 hours.

  • A child should NOT attend school if he/she has had a “rough night”, for instance being awake all night coughing or having trouble breathing.

  • If your child has been prescribed antibiotics, he/she should have received a minimum of 24 hours of the medication before returning to school.

FLU Guidance:

Symptoms of the flu can include fever, cough, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue and, sometimes, vomiting and diarrhea. People with the flu may be able to infect others from one day prior to getting sick to 5-7 days after onset of symptoms. If your child gets sick with the flu, they may return to school when symptom free for 24 hours.

COVID Guidance:

Our school uses the date of a positive COVID test, not the onset of symptoms, to determine the length of quarantine. Therefore, Day 1 of quarantine is the first full day following the day of the positive COVID test. Students must quarantine at home for 5 days. After 5 days, they may return to school is fever free for 24 hours to the return date. Masks are optional.
