November Turkey Feathers
Happy Fall, Y'all!
3L has a busy month ahead of us as we start our unit on the Early Church in Religion. Imagine the enthusiasm in the classroom as students will meet and ask questions to Monsignor Kelley for our "Adopt a Clergy" program! We are also creating  ICHTHUS (ask your child what Ichthus means!) fish and  "packed" backpacks to start on their own journey as Disciples of Christ. What a fun unit to study as we learned more about the journeys to Ephesus, to Corinth and to Phillipi that these men made in the name of Christ. We will also present our Saints' Projects on All Saints' Day, as we discuss holiness and giving our lives to God, studying the four marks of the Church as well as how Jesus chose the Apostles to lead the church after his Death and Resurrection.
In Math, we are tackling Subtraction-- Regrouping and Borrowing Numbers to the Thousandth Place and how zero is a hero in subtraction because he lets us borrow from him. This month, we are starting multiplication facts with a series of rapid fire reviews and "Around the World".   Our confidence is building and our math skills are sharp! So proud of the way we are soaring through these chapters!
In Reading, we continue  our journey through Informational Text, as we learn the elements of this genre in Patterns in Nature and in the fun story of unlikely pairs in the animal world in Weird Friends. as well as explore origin myths in The Golden Flower.  We are also learning all about diphthongs and digraphs in phonics, and personal, singular and plural nouns in Language Arts.
In Social Studies, we continue our exploration into the five regions of the United States, and talk about Natural Disasters vs. Natural Hazards in each region, crops of each region, what an industrial region is, what an agricultural region is, and how weather and climate can influence what kinds of natural resources can be found in a specific region.
As this month comes to a close, I want to take a moment to count my blessings and thank you all for the gifts that are your children. I thank God for this opportunity to share my faith and my love for Him with your children every day, and my heart fills with pride over their love and excitement for learning. Many blessings for a Happy Thanksgiving!
