September in 1B has been very busy and lots of fun. We have spent quite a lot of time getting to know one another and building our classroom routines, especially for our Literacy Block. So far, in Literacy, we have almost perfected our Read to Self and Work on Writing times. Pictures of the children engaged in this work are below.  We've learned about Realistic Fiction and Informational Text, practiced the -at, -it, and -ot spelling patterns, and written in our jounal to name a few things. 

 

In Math, we've spent time reviewing concepts learned in Kindergarten. We have also begun working on the concepts of: counting on and back, before, after, and between, greater than, less than, equal to and ordinal numbers.

 

In Theology, we have begun to learn about the Liturgical Seasons, our class patron saint - Saint Anne, and our basic prayers. We have talked about the Bible and read the stories of Creation and Adam and Eve and talked about how we care for God's creation. We learned that Jesus is the Light of the World and that He calls us to be light to the world, too.
