October 2024
It is hard to believe it is already October! 1B has been very busy learning and getting to know one another. The children have nicely settled into our classroom routines.
October is the month of the Rosary. During Religion this month, in addition to our regular lessons, we will be learning about the Mysteries of the Rosary. Each of the Fridays in the month will be dedicated to learning about one set of Mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful, Luminous, and Glorious). We will also learn about St. Therese and Pope St. John Paul II whose feasts we celebrate this month.
During our Literacy block, we continue working on Daily 5 and have now mastered 4 of the 5 blocks: Read to Self, Listen to Reading, Work on Writing, and Working with Words. During the month of October, we will begin Read to Someone. We have explored Realistic Fiction and Informational Text and will explore these and more genres during the month of October.
In Math, we will be practicing addition and subtraction facts. Extra practice at home or in the car would be very beneficial!
This month, we will study communities in Social Studies and the life cycle of a plant in Science. We'll also have time for lots of fun! Photos to come as the month progresses.
