September 2024
I have enjoyed getting to know each student this month. To prepare us for the school year we took time to learn rules, routines, and organization skills. They all have demonstrated kindness, humor, patience, and perseverance.
ELA- We read The Path to Paper Son and Louie Share Kim, Paper Son from our reading book. In addition to learning new vocabulary, we had engaging discussions about family history and immigration. We talked about the main idea and looked for evidence to support the main idea. We learned about the meaning of the suffixes -ic, ism, and -ive.
Religion- Our focus this month was Jesus and our relationship to Him. We talked about the many names of Jesus and learned how he shows us God’s love. We discussed ways we could serve the Kingdom of God and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
5th Grade Social Studies- We learned about the five themes of Geography, practiced our map skills, and the differences between primary and secondary sources. We began discussing America’s first people and how Geography affects how people live. Click here to see what we learned each day.
4th Grade Social Studies- This month we focused on learning about our state of New Hampshire. In class, fourth graders spent time creating a book about New Hampshire. Some information included in their books is climate, culture, a map, and a timeline. Students also researched notable people from NH and historical or natural landmarks. Community- We met with both our second-grade buddies and PreK buddies. At the end of September, we will visit a farm and apple pick with our second-grade buddies. Stay tuned for some pictures.
