ELA- We finished reading Pedro’s Journal and learned about the elements of historical fiction. We will study poetry and discuss rhythm, rhyme, rhyme scheme, sound effects, and figurative language. In writer’s workshop, students will write poetry. We learned about vowel teams and digraphs. We also talked about the suffixes -able and -ible.
Religion: We will review how to pray the rosary, make our own rosary beads, and have them blessed by Fr. David. We will also learn more about Baptism and how Baptism gives us hope for eternal life.
5th Grade Social Studies- We are participating in the NH Kid Governor program. This month we will learn about the three branches of government,the role of the governor, the history of voting rights. Then, students will pick an issue that is important to them, research it, and create a platform.
4th Grade Social Studies—This month, we will learn about the parts of a map and how to use lines of latitude and longitude. Students will have time in class to complete their own maps. We will also discuss the geography of the United States, including landforms and the five regions.
Community—Students will create a board game highlighting how people can serve God’s Kingdom. Then, we will play the game with our PreK buddies.
Our field trip to the farm was postponed to the end of October. We will visit a farm and apple pick with our second-grade buddies. Stay tuned for some pictures.
