March News

Everyone has been working very hard.  February offered a nice break to renew our strength for the last leg of the year.

In Theology, we focus on Lent and Jesus' Way to the Cross.  Students will work hard to draw one of the Stations of the Cross.  We will attend Stations of the Cross on Fridays.  We will research Lenten vocabulary.  Students will look up, define, and learn 40 Lenten vocabulary words.  Our test on the vocabulary will be on the Thursday of Holy Week.

In Spelling, the daily work is given throughout the week. Our weekly words are listed in the agenda and spelling notebooks.  Activities are completed in notebooks and worksheets.  Spelling is assigned daily.

In Reading, we finished an informational text unit.  With an emphasis on the revolutionary war and founding of our country.  We read The One and Only Ivan and will complete a one-pager.  It is a combination of literature and art that tells about our story. What a talented group!  Our next genre is biography. Students have picked a person, the are researching their person, and will dress up to present their findings.

The 5th grade is finishing their fraction unit with ratios, proportions and percent. Extra help is every Monday in my room at 8 AM.  The sections for IXL are P, Q, R, and Grade 6 S, T, U, V.

The 4th grade are working hard on fractions. They are learning how to add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators. IXL sections are S, T, U, V, W. Extra help is every Friday at 8 AM.

In Accelerated Math, students are working with integers.  They will add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.  Next, they will complete more complex problems using order of operations.
