Visions of Sugar Plums

We are kicking off December by closing November with a SCA Macy's Day parade.  The balloons were fabulous!

The Jesse Tree project in both fifth grade classes is due on December 8th.  I can't wait to line the class with them! The Jesse Tree, buddy field trip to Noel Tree Farm, prayer service, Christmas shows, and Polar Express day will create a very busy month.  Happiness and joy fill the hallways, and it is so nice to be able to gather together!

In Theology, we are taking a break from studying the sacraments to focus on Advent and the story of Jesus.  5E and 5J are planning the Christmas prayer service.  The students are amazing!

Spelling practice can be completed on www.spellingcity.com.  Agendas have the list recorded for the week.  Weekly work is given first thing in the morning.

In reading, we are finishing the informational text unit.  We are moving onto Realistic Fiction. Each student will go home with a school copy of The One and Only Ivan.  The book needs to be finished by the end of January.  We will complete a packet and activities in class and at home. The December book report was to pick a Christmas picture book and read it to our buddy class.  Students are graded on their reading and expressions.  5E always does a great job, and I'm sure they will not disappoint!

In 5th grade math, we are finishing division and started the graphing unit.  The fourth grade has started division.  They are busy mastering and practicing their math facts.  All math students have ixl due every Friday.

I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas break and recharges for the New Year!
