Happy New Year 2024!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed time with family and friends! It was wonderful to see everyone back again ready to start the new year!

 

Theology: We are learning about the Ten Commandments this month, focusing on the First, teaching us that there is one true God and ways to worship and Honor Him, and the Second, emphasizing that God's name is Holy and calling upon God's name with respect. Discussions will be centered around ways to follow these Commandments and respecting the places where we worship Him.

 

Reading: We are focusing this month on close reads, vocabulary, main idea, and reading comprehension. Our book study on Because of Winn Dixie will be starting soon. The reading and assignments will be completed at school through various activities.

 

English: 4th grade is moving into Adjectives! Understanding the concepts of this part of speech will certainly help us in our writing pieces.There are some challenging lessons on irregular adjectives that compare, subject complements, and the differences in more, most, fewer, fewest, less, and least. 

5th graders are continuing onto Verbs! We will discuss action vs. being verbs, verb phrases, irregular verbs, and the various tenses and when to use them. Diagramming will help us understand the usage of the different verbs.
