Third Grade Art Class

Your students will be having art class once a week for 50 minutes. Third graders love our unit on ancient art from around the world including Roman mosaics in paper, Greek pottery on scratch art paper, Egyptian hieroglyphics in clay and Australian dot painting. We continue our multicultural theme by exploring Japanese block printing (we use foam) and Origami, the art of paper folding. We start with the simplest of animals in Origami and continue to increase in complexity. Origami is excellent for fine motor development and starting a conversation about the importance of precision. We finish the year in South and Central America with Huichol yarn painting and Mexican foil Milagros.
