March News 4H
Welcome to March! Spring is almost here, and we are continuing to learn and grow in 4H!
Theology: We will be learning more about Lent, and discussing how to pray, fast, and give alms during this time. As this season is the preparation for the great celebration of Easter, the Stations of the Cross will be each Friday, and there will be various activities incorporating these in and out of the classroom.
Reading: Realistic Fiction and Autobiography are the two genres we will be concentrating on this month. We are going to learn how to analyze plot, setting, and purpose. We will also discuss sequence of events, facts and details, and thoughts, feelings, and reactions to experiences. Synonyms and antonyms, comparing and contrasting, figurative language, and context clues are the topics during these units. Spelling tests will happen every week and half along with our vocabulary words.
4th Grade Science: We have started Chapter 5 on ecosystems. We will know the parts of ecosystems and some examples of ecosystem. We will know how specific structures of organisms help them to survive in their environments. We will study fossils and how scientists use fossils to learn about the past.
5th Grade Science: We will start chapter 4 on Ecosystems. We will learn how plants get and use energy and how our animals interact with all the different ecosystems. Have you ever thought how do humans interact with ecosystems and what we can do to impact it? It will be exciting to learn! We will hatch caterpillars and watch their metamorphic process happen as they turn into adult butterflies that we will release in the spring. A class FAVORITE for sure!!
