November

Wow!  November already...we have been very busy in second grade.
 
Religion:  This month we will discuss All Saints Day, The Church Year, and Ordinary Time.  Then we will start talking about the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
 
Math:  Our focus this month will be on odd & even numbers, counting patterns (3's & 4's),                estimating, and rounding numbers.  We will continue working on problem solving.  Keep practicing your addition and subtraction facts!
 
Reading:  We will learn about making predictions.  We will also practice making predictions.  We will read another Realistic Fiction story and finish up the month with plot elements.
 
Phonics:  We will discuss adding and removing sounds in words to further our phonemic awareness skills.  We will then discuss inflected endings, -s, -es, -ed, & -ing.
 
Grammar:  We will continue discussing the four kinds of sentences.  We will work more on alphabetizing words.
 
Writing:  We will write about what we are thankful for.
 
Social Studies:  We started the chapter on Families.  We will also discuss different kinds of families.
